Why do we like music?

by.Yoko
I found an interesting article. Do you like to listen to music? Have you ever thought why we do like music? I like music because it makes me happy or relaxed although it also makes us sad. Today I want to share what I read.

In 2001, some neurosciences found the fact that when we hear music, our certain part of brain areas which are called limbic and paralimbic are activated. It brings us euphoric reward responses which are also brought from sex, good food, and addictive drugs. It is easy to understand that we feel euphoric reward when we do something that necessary for us to survive but why music can also bring it to us?  Actually no one knows the truth. Though there is one strong theory.
Satisfaction is what we get from listening to music. We feel happy when we found something that we were looking for. It’s same to music and we unconsciously predict what note will come next and when it was correct we are satisfied and we will love it.
Prediction was once has been essential for our survival to get food or to avoid dangers and still it is when we cross the road.

This article is so interesting for me because my idea of music is something that we just feel and have fun. But it was not. We had a reason to love music.
I’ve heard of another interesting result about music that the flowers which grow with Mozart’s music grow well. How interesting powers it have!
