My University!

by: Takeshi

Hello, everyone.
The last blog which I wrote, I introduced myself. Today, I want to tell you about my university in Japan.
Do you know Kyoto?  It is one of the most famous cities with old temples and shrines in Japan.
Strictly speaking, Doshisha University has two campuses. One is Imadegawa Campus. The campus is located almost the center of Kyoto prefecture. Students mainly in the humanities go and study there.

As you can see from the above picture of the campus, the appearance of building looks like European style rather than Japanese, which is not surprising, my university was founded by Jyo Niijima in 1875. He was a pious believer in Christianity.

Near the campus, there are several traditional shrines and temples. For example, you can visit Gosyo, a residence of the past emperor, and the residence is designated one of a national treasures. Students can visit such a good historical place even after finishing their classes!

Let me show you another campus, in Kyotanabe. The head of my department, global communication, is placed in this campus. Compared with Imadegawa campus, Kyotanabe one is surrounded plentiful nature. Students in the science course and a part of humanities attend the campus. Since the campus is neither noisy nor busy place, students can concentrate their work!

The brilliant points of my university is especially that you can feel atmospheres of not only traditional Japan but also highly cosmopolitan. Every year, a lot of exchange students come and enjoy their life in Japan. In addition, a new faculty was founded from this April. Global Region of Culture faculty! I strongly hope that my university becomes more global in the future.
