Hello everybody !
My name is Ashley. I was born in the United States in the state of California. However, I grew up on Raiatea island in French Polynesia. Maybe you don't know where it is. French Polynesia is a group of islands located at the south of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. The most famous island is Tahiti. This aforementioned island like Bora Bora or Huahine is a very popular destination for tourists. A lot of people from France come to this place. They enjoy the tropical landscapes with the sea, the beach and luxurious vegetation. There is a lot of activities such as going underwater, doing whale watching, doing a hike and more. It is really sunny there, but it rains periodically too. The temperature is not too hot or too cold, so it is rather nice. One problem is maybe that there is a lot of mosquitoes. They usually bit foreigners and not the local people.
Tahitian people like to welcome new comers. When you come out by plane, there is always a local dance with music. My hometown is a really small island. People know and like to talk to each other. In Tahiti, people are a little more cold because they are more busy and it is a bigger island. About the food, I can say that it is pretty heavy, so you have to be careful about what you eat but it is good so don't be afraid to try new flavors. I like to eat "poe" which is like a jelly cake or "poisson cru" that is a dish of raw fish with vegetables.
I like to listen to music and in particular, pop and rock. I enjoy watching television, movies and series like How I Met Your Mother or Big Bang Theory. I also appreciate reading mystery and fantastic books even if I don't read so much lately.
What can I say about academic background ? I graduated from high school in French Polynesia. Then, I went to study in France in a preparatory class. Now, I plan to continue studying in the United States. I am interesting in global studies, but I am still open for other field of study. I plan to go first in a community college in fall, and then, I might go to a four year undergraduate college or start working right after.
