Global Village or Global Pillage?

By Tomoe

Now, we can’t avoid globalization.  I think we have to have compatibility for globalization.  In today's global economy it is getting easier and easier for companies to move their operations around the world. Many companies try to get money by lower cost.  It is said that “Race to the Bottom”.  Because of the Race to the Bottom, many people who are especially in developing countries have to work very hard situation and can’t get enough money.  For example, Beijing had sunny day per two weeks in this May.  It is a violation of human right.  Even though those companies outsource to the other countries so they give others job opportunities, they need to consider of their right.  I think two solutions of the global economy problem.

First, big companies which effect global economy should inspect by outside professional.  Actually, NIKE was said sweat shop in the past and the job situations in the outsourced countries were terrible so other factor claimed NIKE. NIKE drops down the image of the company.  That’s why NIKE inspects by outside professional.  It avoids violating employees’ right.  Big companies should recognize they try to yield benefit too much and lose sight of employees’ right.

Second, any organizations should protect human rights and the environment.  Big companies have power but such organizations and group of people have also power.  Those powers can block the race to the bottom and make companies think of the job situation.  Actually, some NGO start business for the poor and women.  For third world countries, the NGO is very popular job and situation is well.  Also, the venture company which is new company and young leader owns, starts business or those countries.  The company keep the wage and working condition.

In short, inspecting by outside professional and organization activity can lead judgment world economy.

10 reasons why so many people are moving to Texas

By Cary

Every way you look at it, there are a lot of people moving to Texas.

Five of the 10 fastest-growing cities in the country between 2011 and 2012 were in Texas, according to new figures from the US Census Bureau. New York is way out in front in terms of added population, butHouston is second with San Antonio and Austin fourth and fifth.

Graph showing fastest growing cities

In Texas, it is more easy to find a job. As we know, the problem of employment in the United Stated still affect people's lives. Thus, people are more willing to live where is more easy to find a job."I don't think people go for the weather or topography," says Joel Kotkin, professor of urban development at Chapman University in Orange, California. "The main reason people go is for employment. It's pretty simple. According to Kotkin's website, New Geography. four of the top 10 metropolitan areas for jobs growth in 2013 are in Texas,

In addition, it is more cheap to live in Texas. New York, LA and the San Francisco Bay Area are too expensive for most people to live, but Houston has the highest 'effective' pay cheque in the country.
The ratio of the median home price to median annual household income in Houston is only 2.9. In San Francisco, it's 6.7. If you live in Texas, the land is cheaper than other place, and you can get the building  permit right to construct you house more quickly. Therefore, the whole process of having your own house become much quicker than other states.

Most importantly, Texas is one of only seven states where residents pay no personal state income tax, says Kay Bell, contributing tax editor at Bankrate and Texan native. In California, if your income range is between $37,234 and $47,055, your tax rate on every dollar of income earned is 8%. It means that if you earn $40,000, you need to pay $3,000 for the tax. In contract, you may save $3,000 when you live in Texas. That's wonderful, it means that you can buy more 12 iphone5.

The Texas doesn't just attract new arrivals, the native Texans also aren't leaving the state either. It is the "stickiest" state in the country, according to the latest figures from the Pew Research Center, which suggest that more than three-quarters of adults born in Texas still live there. Alaska is the least sticky.

Do You Eat Genetic Engineering Wheat?

by: Takeshi

Original Souraces:
1) Japan and South Korea Bar U.S. Wheat Imports
2) Prices rop after discovery of Monsanto rogue wheat

According to today’s post of the New York Times, Japan and South Korea stopped importing wheat from the United States, and the European Union encouraged its 27 states to increase testing. After that, the government of the United States revealed that a genetic strain of engineered wheat which was for sell was never found in wheat growing in an Oregon field.Thought the Department of Agriculture stated that there would be no risk concerning health, governments in Asia and Europe rapidly behaved to have some kinds of limits in order not to allow the wheat to come in.

Last year, South Korea imported almost half of its total wheat of five million tons from the United States. The last Friday, South Korea expressed that it would better to suspend purchases until tests on shipments were clearly performed. By the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the results of the tests would be ensured in the first week of June. The European Union has a “zero tolerance” approach to the crops which are modified genetically, and the European Union suggested that if the result of the test about shipment is bad, they would not be sold the wheat. The European Union wanted to show “further information and reassurance” from Washington. The biggest exporter of wheat in the world is undoubtedly the United States. While genetically engineered grains like corns and soybeans are grown, the grains are mainly consumed by livestock.  On the other hands, wheat is consumed directly by people. Japan and Mexico are ones of the biggest countries to import American wheat. The European Union, mostly Spain, also imports more than one million tons of American wheat each year.

In my opinion, I can agree with the policy of Europe and Asian countries. When it comes to human lives, food is surely one of the most important things. If the cereal which you eat every morning contains some sorts of bad factor which came from genetically engineered grains, do you want to keep to eating it? Even if the amounts of the some factors are so minute that they do not seriously harm your body, can you overlook the fact that you will eat something bad for your health in daily? Furthermore, parents probably need to pay attention to their children’s health. I can admit that there are too nervous atmosphere toward food, but it is impossible too careful of your rest of life and it is not too late to restart to import the wheat from the America after a strict test has done.

Farm Plants from "Pinkhouses"

By Ashley:

Architects and engineers have conceived the idea of vertical farming which consists of cultivating farm plants in buildings. These towers should provide food in urban area in the near future.

However, nowadays, most of these constructions resemble more to large greenhouses.

Besides, many horticulturists do not see any practical use in such structures.

According to Cary Mitchell of Purdue University, a horticulturist who has been working on ways to grow plants in space for more than 20 years, farm towers are not practical from an energy perspective. Also, he says that the future lies more in large suburb warehouses than in vertical farms on account of the fact that both real estate and electricity are cheaper.

He then goes on further by maintaining that these vertical gardens will have nothing to do with traditional greenhouses and their fluorescent lamps as they will glow from blue and red LEDs which associated are perceived as magenta. These plant factories will be “pinkhouses”.

Light is really important for plants to grow.  With vertical farms, plants on the top shade the ones at the bottom. Consequently, artificial light is added, but this light is expensive and harms the environment.

Fortunately, the expenses can be reduced by using only blue and red LEDs in view of the fact that these two colors are the most needed for plants to grow. In addition, LEDs are generally energy sufficient, they can produced specific wavelengths like those of blue and red which enhance the growth of plants, and they can be placed close to the plants since they are cooler. That way, energy loss is diminished.

Currently, experiments with LEDs are carried out to supplement natural light, but not to replace it.

Still, some growers such as Barry Holtz at Caliber Biotherapeutics use this method to grow plants in enclosed rooms to protect them from harmful environment factors such as temperature changes. He reports to have his crops growing faster by 20 percent, and to save energy.

Nevertheless, Holtz thinks that indoor gardening of that kind will not replace traditional farms for quite a while in light of the fact that it is a relatively expensive way to grow food even with the efficient use of water and electricity.

From my perspective, vertical farming has many benefits. First, it is a good way to deal with the shortage of food. With the future 9 billion of people the Earth will count, it is important to produce more food. Also, they can be placed directly in cities, reducing the transportation cost. As for the environmental advantage, everything is recycle in vertical farms, and less if no more pesticides will be used. Furthermore, it is very convenient. Any kind of crops and plants could be consumed at any time of the year since they grow in closed space, and are not influenced by external factors. Moreover, they will probably be organic with no pesticide. Fresh and natural vegetables will be at hand. An additional benefit I see in “pinkhouses” is that plants will grow faster.

Healthful Vending Machine

By: Yoko

We can buy snacks easily by vending machine. Since obesity epidemic has been big problem in the US, Alissa keny-guyer, Oregon state representative, suggest that we should make a good environment for people to choose healthy foods.  She introduced a bill to change the contents of vending machines from snacks to healthy ones. She believes that this change will help people to choose healthful choice. However to operate vending machine is a good job for blind. According to Kevan Worley, director of the National Association of Blind Merchants, 2.300blind entrepreneurs go to work because of the Randolph Sheppard Act. Randolph Sheppard Act is a program which provides blind people with remunerative employment and self-support through operation of vending machines and this is the most successful employment program for the blind ever conceived. Now blind vendors are worried that this shift will take away their business. Finding employment is still difficult for blind today.
The Centers for Disease Control and Preventions is now in corporation with blind vendors and vending machine companies to avoid this problem. They are trying to find snacks that are not expensive and small enough to place in vending machine, and finding ways to distinguish these options.
One more thing that we have to think is that whether vending machines contribute to increase number of diabetes. Joel Kimmons, a nutrition scientist thinks that vending machines do no contribute negatively to the overall diet and therefor they do not contribute positively, neither.

I think vending machines have also have influence on global warming because they are working 24 hours, spending lot of electricity. Perhaps vending machines are used mainly for advertising items and we don’t really need it because we often have stores right next to the vending machines. I’m not sure that vending machines have impact on eating habits, but to improve heath, it’s a good idea to deal with this problem by changing environment.  However we can’t disregard of providing work for blind because it is necessary for them to live independently. We should find another way to create job which have no negative effect.

Economic Development In Africa

BY Tomoe

The author thinks countries need address about the bank deposit to not only the countries which lent but also which borrowed like South Africa.  In addition, those third world’s bottom billions people are suffered from political and economic problems.  They are left alone in the global economy.
Also, lack of access to education is a big problem for people, particularly in practical sustainability that is directly relevant to their lives. (Ghana Permaculture Network, 4 )

I consider that it is important to develop Ghanaian economy due to improve member of the middle class and low class in rural area.  I explain the process.  I can say that agricultural production is able to increase if Ghanaian farmers change their mind.  First, Ghanaian gets education and knows the benefit of selling surplus farm produce.  They sell those produce and want to yield more farm produce by agricultural equipment. Second, foreign countries’ companies sell the equipment in Ghana.  Then there is the matching of supply and demand.  Ghanaian can develop their farm produce and make worth and foreign countries’ companies also get worth.

Someone insist of the need of government support. However I oppose the opinion.   I went to Ghana and I recognize the business structure.  I explain recycle business in Ghana.  The big company in Ghana exports garbage to China and it has strong power in Ghana.  Government and the company link up so there is no recycle plants.  Other factor can’t begin recycle business.  I heard it when I visited the cleaning material company in Ghana.  Some companies’ power is bigger than government in Ghana.

For the success of the process, I show the how to approach.  First, a venture company communicates with farmers and tells the benefit of selling surplus farm produce.  “A venture company” increases in developing country like Bangladesh.  Eriko Yamaguchi, who is a Japanese, did such job and succeeded business in Bangladesh.  It shows the possibility of venture companies.  After a venture company found the basis, big company come into Ghanaian business.  They take new and better equipment and improve farm produce in Ghana.

Less human beings, more machines

By Ashley:

You must be familiar with automated checkout at supermarkets, bank cash machines, staff-free ticket offices, and online study courses, now, there are driverless cars and pilotless airplanes.

Google began the project of a car without driver in 2010, and expects to release it in five years from now. Although Google’s driverless car is a subject of controversy, many major automobile companies in the world are willing to pursue this concept, and work on their own prototype.

Last month, in April, the first private pilotless airplane with 16 seats flew in British airspace. A pilot did the take-off and the landing, but for the rest of the flight, the plane flew autonomously. Autopilot mode has existed for many years. However, soon, there will be no need for pilots anymore, and the plane will take-off and land by itself.

In addition to the raise of unemployment for five years, the insignificant creation of jobs and well-paid jobs due to the financial crisis, and countries’ private debt, economics and computer scientists worry about the fact that the aforementioned new technologies will replace the roles of people in many industrial and service jobs. Many people will lose their jobs. Another subject of worry is a future in which only educated and computer-literate elite will have good jobs and full-time employment. Many companies follow this trend, but they do not employ as much as car companies. It can result in half of the adult population without a work.

According to some scientists, the real challenge of our time is not the development of China, but new technology. The robotization and automation, which will facilitate our daily lives in a significant way, are inevitable. As a result, some jobs will disappear while others will be emphasized.

Others scientists believe in “the Great Stagnation” which occurs when there is no new worthwhile technologies for doers to automate, and transform, announcing the end of the “great general purpose technologies” that have changed the world.

Nobody can predict the future, but we know that two-thirds of our current consumption did not exist twenty-five years ago. There are great chances that the next generation will have the same experience. Everything changes, becomes obsolete, and renews at a different pace. Wages and working possibilities are endangered by extreme inequality. People will constantly open up, innovate, and reinvent themselves.

Now is The Time to Consider Water

by: Takeshi

Original Sources

Today, human beings are facing great hardships of natural resources. From the viewpoint of the resources, we probably notice that we have a certain limit which people can use maximally. In order to make our lives better, however, we have exploited resources without caring about the environment of the earth. This time, I am going to focus on the problem of water especially.

Concerning water, water pollution is a serious problem in the world. One of the main reasons why the pollution is progressing is that many chemical factories drain lots of harmful emissions into rivers or the sea. It may be true that we can spend our comfortable lives thanks to productions which they manufacture. However, it is also true that they lead an adverse effect on the scheme of aquatic life because of the damaging discharge.
The lack of water is also a solemn difficult situation. It is believed that three things, that is, population explosions in developing countries, the changing of rainfall in the specific area and the lowering of the water table in the world are complications of the lacking especially. No element is more important to human than water. A scientist said, “In the twenty century, we opposed for the right to use the petroleum. In the twenty-one century, we will do again for the right to get water." The lack of water is a problem not only for us but also for living things. Actually, a lot of creatures are suffering from water pollution and lacking of water. The number of domestic animal is increasing in a certain region of Asia for the reasons. From this fact, we can say that the problem of water is not only our problem.

Then, what should we do? I think, we should find out effective solutions for the water problem as soon as possible. If we overlook the water problem, we will meet an irreparable situation. All the more because water is related to not only human beings, we can say that we have a grate responsibility. In order to build a better future, we need to tackle the problem of water seriously now.

last days in hospital

By: Yoko

In Care of the dying ‘socisty’s litmus test’, author, Prof Mayur Lakhani wrote about how to accept death and he aims to change the attitude toward death.
According to a survey by British Social Attitudes, launched to mark Dying Matters Awareness Week, only 7 percent of us say that the hospital is the place we want to end our days, while two thirds say that home is the best place to die. Unfortunately, there is a big gap in wishes and reality. In reality, one in five of us will die in our own home as against over 50 percent of us will die in hospital.
To deal with this situation, government has to take action. Clinical Commissioning groups are making a hospital room for a terminal patient more comfortable by reforming. Some people are against to spend money to this area with in the light of Francis report, but how we care for the dying is a measure of our society and this action should be supported. Government also has to plan for the future and make it clear how we should support older people in the last years of life.  The number of people over the age of 85 is set to double over the next 20 years.
We also have to try to bring back dying into people’s homes. Government should enrich resources of communities. Medical professions have to think about different approach to care. And everyone has to think about death more optimistically. We should plan for death and make sure dying people get the dignified and compassionate care they need.
I strongly agree that government should pay attention to health situations. Many people want to spend last days in home, but they choose hospital. I think the biggest reason why they choose hospital is that in the hospital, medical professionals can treat patient immediately. As a pharmacist in the making, I felt responsibility to think about how we care dying people in the hospital. I didn’t know that such a lot of patients spend last days in hospital against their willing. Even if the government tries s to improve hospital environment, if the medical stuffs don’t understand patient feelings, people won’t be confortable in hospital. To improve hospital will enrich patient's heart.

Insects, the future food

By Ashley

The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has promoted on Monday the consumption of insects as a high-protein and low-fat food for people to fight against hunger, global warming, and pollution. Creating jobs for people is also another advantage resulting from the consumption of insects.

Nowadays, two billions of people eat insects mostly in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Eating insects is known as entomophagy. There are currently 1900 species of edible insects. Beetles and caterpillars are the most eaten insects. Bees, wasps, ants, grasshoppers, locusts, crickets, represent other popular insects which are eaten.

Insects contain good fats, minerals, and fibers. In fact, according to scientists, eating insects is as efficient as eating beef in that it gives the same amount of protein with less fat.

Also, while 2.2 pounds of insects needs 4.4 pounds of feed to be produce,  we need 17.6 pounds of feed to produce the same amount of meat. Moreover, the majority of insects raised for food produce less greenhouse gases than animals.

People who sell insects can make money. For instance, four bottles of grasshoppers represent fifteen dollars in Africa. Furthermore, people pay high prices for some species of caterpillars in South Africa, and for some weaver ant eggs in Southeast Asia since they are considered delicacies.

Most insects are in forest environments, but experts see the possibility of farming insects, and especially to breed animals, in view of the fact that they are able to adapt easily in many environments from deserts to mountains. Farming insects has been already used for fish baits.

There is a four million dollars European Union funded research project which studies common houseflies to see if they can recycle animal waste too. Now, farmers use the aforesaid waste as fertilizer, and also pay someone to destruct it.

In some way, we already eat insects. For example, the cochineal, a scaled insect from Peru, is used to produce a red coloring put in a trendy Italian aperitif, and an international, and popular brand of strawberry yogurt. In addition, this kind of coloring is also used in pharmacy to color pills.

I am not really enthusiastic to the idea of eating insects. However, I am not against it if it can help to fight against hunger, global warming and pollution, and to create jobs. I think it is a good idea.

Google Glass: what you need to know

By Cary

What is it?
Google Glass is Google on your face. Nowadays, people use cellphone every day. Indeed, I can say many people can’t live without cellphone. Thanks to the Google Glass, we can wear the “cell phone” in front of our face, we can do anything we can do in the cellphone. You can take phone calls. They send texts, take photos and video, and show maps. They deliver search results. If you've played with Google Now, the Glass interface is strikingly similar.

Google hopes that apps will make Glass, the company's Internet-connected glasses, more functional.

What does Google Glass actually do?
Google Glass cam take photos and videos, sends text messages, engages in Google Hangouts, makes phone calls, searches Google, and gets turn-by-turn navigation with Google maps. It can show the weather, the time, and headlines from The New York Times that have been pushed to the device, with spoken headline summaries. For now, anyway, that's about it. Some features require tethering -- GPS-based functions that use the phone, such as turn-by-turn directions. Others, like Google Hangouts and Google Search, can also be performed over Wi-Fi. When offline, Glass only takes photos and videos.

New Apps Arrive on Google Glass
Google Glass, the company’s Internet-connected glasses, will soon have seven new apps, including Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Evernote.
Every cellphone need enough apps to support their function. Without interesting apps, the cellphone will lose its competitive strength. So as Google Glass. After being support by a huge amount of apps, the Google Glass will be accepted by more and more people. But so far, the price of the Google Glass still high, it is not easy to be accepted the populace. I also hope that the Google company can improve their manufacturing technology to reduce the cost of the product. Therefore, more people can effort it.

What's in The Swimming Pools ?

BY: Hadeel

Resource: CNN
http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/17/health/cdc-pool-water/index.html?hpt=he_c2

In the summer, the most famous entertainment in most of the countries is swimming because it's refreshing and people can reduce the hot weather by cooling themselves in the pools. The smell of the chlorine in the swimming pools let us think that it is 100% clean from microbes, but that is not true at all . According to that article, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) took a sample from 161 filters in public and private swimming pools and they found a shocking results. They found in more than half of the samples a microbe called E.coli which comes from the swimmers when they poop in the pools!! This is really disgusting and I can tell  that it's a large number of people because half of the samples were full of the  aforementioned microbes. The problem is that the swimmers do not take a shower and clean themselves before swimming in the pools. In addition, according to the scientist said that each one of us carries about 0.14 germs of fecal material into the pool.

In order to swim in a really clean pools, swimmer should take shower before getting into the pool and ill people with diarrhea should not swim at all.Because one diarrhea accident can cause an infection to anyone who accidentally drink from  pool water. In the article,Thomas Lachocki, the CEO of the National Swimming Pool Foundation says that" pools should contain 1-4 parts per million of chlorine and pH levels should be within 7.2--7.8" He says also, that you can buy the chlorine and pH tests in any market store and you can know in five seconds only what the various level are. Furthermore, a clear water in the pool does not mean it is safe at all as researcher says, " the cloudy  water is an absolute positive sign that something is not right."

The  CDC gives some steps to do to prevent the germs in the swimming pools which are listed below:
First, never swim with a diarrhea, and take a shower with soap before swimming. Second, every 60 minutes you should take a bathroom break. Third, wash your hands after using the toilet or changing a diapers . Finally, try not to swallow the pool water.

Music Makes Me Merry

by; Takeshi

original sourses:

The power of music is great. When you are depressed, music can cheer you up. When you want to raise your motivation to do something, music can help you too. Today, I’m going tell you about my favorite musicians and make the question clear what kinds of effects does music have.

First my favorite music group is Red Hot Chili Peppers. RHCP are an American rock band grouped in Los Angeles, California in 1983. Their music style is consisted of rock with a pointed on funk, as well as other genres like punk rock, psychedelic rock and so on. RHCP have achieved seven Grammy Awards, and sold over 80 million records all over the world. Especially their live performances are so cool!! There is nothing like seeing for oneself. I attached the link of a YouTube page of RHCP. When you have a time to watch, you can go the page.

Second musician is Hikaru Utada. She is one of the most famous Japanese singers. She was born in Manhattan and grew up until 1997 in the US. She is known by her artist name, Utada in Europe and the US. Her Japanese debut album, First Love, went on to become the best-selling album in Japanese music history. She was considered "the most influential artist of the decade" by The Japan Times In 2009. She released a few English albums and it is said that the English spoken by Utada is the most beautiful for the Japanese people.

Then why people listen to music? As I describe at first, people will probably listen to their favorite music when they want to take their good emotional balance. In my case, I often listen to the music of RHCP when I want to encourage myself, and I choice Utada’s music if I want to calm down. Like this, music is a sort of "prescription" for us. Nowadays, some researchers discovered that there is a strong relationship between a sort of hormone in the brain and music the person likes. When you enjoy music which stirs you, a kind of chemical hormone called dopamine is released by the brain. The chemical reaction helps the parts of your brain which convey emotional things lively. In short, thanks to listening to a certain group of notes, the reactions have your brain to feel better. Even though music has a scientific reason, you cannot listen to your favorite musics during your classes!!

The myth of outsourcing; it gives benefits to the U.S

By Tomoe

“When a presidential election year coincides with an uncertain economy, campaigning politicians invariably invoke an international economic issue as a dire threat to the well-being of Americans(Drezner,1).”  However outsourcing cannot be a problem for American workers and the American economy.  The unemployment caused by outsourcing will be lower than expected.  Outsourcing also reduces their barriers to trade and investment.  The law and additional political pressures are also made by it.  The problem is people feel that their jobs are threatened, but it is opposite.

The title, “The Outsourcing Bogeyman”,  means that outsourcing is thought of making the American business powerless, but it actually brings more benefits and “Bogeyman” shows the concerns was just imagination and untrue.  I think.

The other book: The Elephant and the Dragon says “Working involving 'personal services' like plastic surgery or lawn mowing will stay in the United States, while 'impersonal services,' like jobs for movie animators and call-center operators, may move(Meredith, 83).”   Even though they lose job opportunities, those jobs are the work which not so many people need at.

The most important point is that the current trend of outsourcing business overseas gives competitiveness to the U.S.  The U.S companies can know the world economy tendency and get benefits effectively.  I mean lower costs made higher benefits.

At first, offshoring seems that the U.S. benefits go to other countries.  However, they get more benefits from outsourcing.  It can be applied our lives.  When I was a leader of the recruitment in the university, I tried to do everything by myself.  I couldn’t do so well but I changed my mind and ask my friends to cooperate with.  After I made teams to cooperate with friends, I could succeed the recruitment.  As I outsourced my jobs, I could focus on the activity which I have to do and all of the activity was complete.

Sippy Cups and Other Little-Known Childhood Hazards

By: Hadeel

Resource: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/14/sippy-cups-and-other-childhood-hazards/?ref=health

Sippy cups have contributed to a surprising number of accidents.
This article is about a child her name is Morgan. She is 20-month-old toddler and she was drinking from a bottle, sitting on the couch, suddenly she fell off the couch, crashing into a chair and felt on the floor. Her mother Jackie realized that Morgan had a broken tooth and a cut mouth, damage from the hard plastic bottle she had been drinking from. However, her mother decided to begin trained her daughter for a normal cups. She said that she never thought that a child could get hurt from a bottle .Also, the article talked about different research about the dangers of using bottle, pacifiers, and Sippy cups for the toddler, which cause thousands of injuries to the mouth and teeth every year, about more than 45,000 children under the age of three, were treated in emergency rooms for injuries related to bottles, pacifiers and Sippy cups. The American Academy of Pediatrics, recommends that children should stop using pacifiers by about 6 months and transition from bottles to lidless cups by 12 months, but most of the parents are ignoring this advice. According to the article, most of the injuries about 66 percent of them were injured because of the bottles. Also, about 20 percent of children holding the Sippy cup were injured also while they are running and walking. One of the doctors in the article her name is Dr. Keim said that it is important to teach the children to drink from a normal cup.  “It’s the combination of being seated while drinking that I think would reduce the risk of injury,” she said. Moreover, another study said it is important also to lookout for your children for button batteries it's also make a big problem for the toddler and infants. In the article they mentioned that in the last two decades 66,000 children and teenagers were injured because of the battery, so parents should be more aware.
